Chapter 7: Watching TV in the home

In Chapter 7 researchers went into family homes to study what people really do while they watch TV. The researchers told the families that they were just observing family life, not anything to do with TV viewing. Even though the families didn’t know they were observing their viewing behaviors, wouldn’t just knowing someone different is in your home and watching you alter your normal behavior? Also, why didn’t the researchers go outside the home to see how TV effects other areas of the families’ social life?
